2021.01.28

Sendai City is the prefectural capital of Miyagi Prefecture, about 300 km in a straight line from Tokyo, and is the only ordinance-designated city in the Tohoku region. It is also the largest city in the Tohoku region with a population of about 1.09 million.
It is close to Matsushima, which is famous as a tourist destination along the coast, and there are many hot springs in the surrounding mountains.
In addition, the Hirose River runs through the center, and there are many greenery such as trees on the roadside, and it is sometimes called ” MORINO MIYAKO” which means a town of trees.
There are many vocational schools other than Tohoku University and Tohoku Gakuin University, where students from all over Tohoku gather to study.
Annual average temperature: 12.4 ° C, precipitation: 1254.1 mm, sunshine hours: 1796.1 hours.
Its close proximity to the sea and many sunny days, makes it warmer resulting in a small percentage of snow in winter, and the temperature does not drop much compared to other cities in Tohoku.

The convenience of 90 minutes from Tokyo on the Tohoku Shinkansen is highly evaluated, and many branch offices and branches of major companies in the Tokyo metropolitan area are set up.
In addition, it is connected to neighboring cities by highways and ferries, and is still growing as the largest city in Tohoku.

The photo shows Sendai Station, which is the base of transportation located in the center of the city where people can use JR-EAST, Sendai Municipal Subway, and Sendai Municipal Bus.

Many commercial facilities are gathered around Sendai Station. Therefore, a lot of people frequently visit for shopping, eating and drinking, movies, and participating in various events.

From Sendai Airport, there are regular domestic flights to major cities in Japan such as Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka, as well as regular overseas flights to four routes: South Korea, China, Thailand, and Taiwan.

There are many tourists from overseas, and when I walked around the city, I heard people speaking in Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, etc. as well as English, but due to the influence of COVID-19, the former bustle is lost.
I hope COVID-19 will end as soon as possible. However, in the mean time, let’s follow safety precautions until the usual hustle and bustle of the city will be back to normal.
